How to Shop for HCG Diet Recipes

Because the HCG diet is very restrictive in terms of what you can and cannot eat, some people find it incredibly difficult to do their normal grocery shop—not because they are unsure of what to buy, but because temptation is literally around every corner!

Unless you have a core of steel and willpower to match, it is all too easy to succumb to the lure of a “buy-one-get-one-free” offer on cakes, biscuits and other delicious goodies, but if you do fall prey, it can seriously jeopardize your chances of success on the HCG diet.

How can I avoid shopping temptation?

There are lots of ways to reduce the risk of buying unnecessary food treats and items you do not need and although HCG diet success does require some willpower on your part, you are more likely to succeed by utilizing excellent planning skills than pure willpower alone.

Make a shopping list before you head out of the door! And check it twice. Never go grocery shopping without the aid of a comprehensive list of ingredients. Write down exactly what you need for each of your HCG recipes and stick to it like glue. Do not be tempted to justify extra items, even if you are shopping for other people: “That cake looks yummy, so I’ll buy it for Mike,” is dangerous thinking. Poor Mike won’t see a crumb as you will end up eating all of the cake and crying over the bathroom scales for the next few days!

Do not wander around the aisles aimlessly—most of them are full of processed foods that contain nothing but empty calories and bad cholesterol. You do not need any of these items for the HCG diet, so walk away NOW!

Stick to the fresh fruit and produce section of the grocery store. It is here that you will find everything you need to eat healthily and prepare your HCG diet meals. Refer to your list and buy everything you need systematically.

How can I prepare tasty recipes for my HCG diet?

The HCG diet might be restrictive, but it does not need to be bland and tasteless. If you use fresh herbs and spices to liven up the recipes, you will find it is easy to prepare delicious home cooked food full of healthy nutrients—and often for a fraction of the price you used to pay for ready meals and processed rubbish.

Try and do some shopping at local Farmer’s Markets. These are great places to shop for fresh fruit, vegetables, and locally raised meat and the prices are normally much lower than any you will find in the supermarkets and grocery stores. In most cases, the produce will also be organic, although it is wise to check this before making assumptions.
