Over the years, the HCG diet has been the subject of a great deal of publicity, mainly because of the amazing way it helps dieters to lose weight, but also in part because some disreputable companies have jumped on the band wagon and tried to cash in on the success of the HCG diet by releasing sub-standard HCG drops.
As a result of this type of bad publicity, there are probably lots of people who are concerned about the validity of the HCG diet and the possibility that it might be another diet scam designed to take their money rather than help them lose weight.
Is the HCG diet a scam?
The HCG diet has been around for more than fifty years and was developed by Dr. Simeons, a very well respected endocrinologist. Dr. Simeons spent many years perfecting the HCG diet and producing the HCG diet protocol and when followed correctly, there is no doubt that the HCG diet is highly successful at helping obese and overweight people lose weight.
However, the HCG diet will only work if it is followed to the letter and the HCG drops are a legitimate product, so if you buy your HCG from a cheap overseas supplier and do not read the HCG diet protocol to gain a proper understanding of how this amazing diet actually works, you are at risk of diet failure, or worse.
What HCG diet scams are out there?
The HCG diet is based on the principle of taking the HCG hormone daily so that the hypothalamus is stimulated into turning the stubborn fat deposits on the belly, thighs, hips and buttocks into energy. Unfortunately, this will not happen if you buy a low quality and non-pure HCG product as the levels of HCG will not be sufficiently high enough to affect the hypothalamus.
How can I possibly survive on less than 500 calories per day on the HCG diet?
One of the main reasons people assume the HCG diet is a scam is because they are under the illusion that it is impossible to survive on less than 500 calories per day without becoming very sick. But this is not the case at all!
If you follow the HCG diet correctly, you will have access to a further 1500-4000 calories per day from the fat deposits in your body. The HCG diet encourages the body to burn up your fat deposits and convert them into energy, so although you are only consuming 500 calories, you are actually gaining a further 4000 calories, which provides lots of extra energy.
Sadly, there are lots of companies who are selling an inferior HCG product, which contains very little HCG hormone. Instead the products are full of other compounds including ginseng, B vitamins and amino acids. There are even some products for sale that are being advertised as “hormone free” and these contain no HCG whatsoever!
How can I make sure I am not scammed on the HCG diet?
The best way to ensure you are not scammed by the HCG diet is to buy a good quality HCG diet product. Do not be tempted into buying low quality, cheap HCG products as this makes the diet very unsafe. And finally, always read the HCG diet protocol and make sure you understand the principles behind the HCG diet before you embark on your weight loss program.
